Programme effectiveness
It is important to gather a range of data that helps to show, not only how much an intervention has cost, but also what the measureable outcomes are – both qualitative and quantitative.
The National Implementation Service (NIS) gathers the following pre and post intervention data:
- number of child behaviours.
- carer’s stress levels.
- parenting style.
- SDQ scores.
- attendance levels.
- model adherence ratings.
KEEP Facilitators collect this data and securely send it to the National Implementation Service where it is aggregated across all of the sites in England and presented back to individual programmes within a yearly programme report.
All KEEP sites find this programme report helpful for business planning and as a recognition of achievement for attendees and facilitators. Data at 6 months and 12 months post KEEP is also collected and analysed. There is evidence that the improvements made, are maintained over time.
It is important to consider the collection of baseline data when considering the outcomes you would like to measure locally. So, for example, if you consider KEEP would contribute towards increasing placement stability in your area then you would need collate the existing data on this (and the associated costs of placement changes) for the last two or three years prior to the KEEP programmes starting so that you could then compare those figures against the outcomes produced by KEEP.
