KEEP Safe
KEEP Safe is a programme designed for carers and special guardians with young people aged 12-17 years. KEEP Safe is a 90 minute weekly group programme which runs over 20 weeks. The programme has a specific weekly curriculum and free sessions are built in to allow flexibility according to need.
The curriculum builds on from the principles of KEEP Standard but is targeted at the behaviours and needs of adolescents. Sessions include engaging and motivating young people, effective management of emotional coercion, and effective discipline. KEEP Safe prepares carers for talking with young people about sex, alcohol; and drugs and focuses on building awareness and safety strategies.
KEEP is designed to use the issues and ideas brought by the participants, and is tailored to their needs. There is a manual for the facilitators and summaries and handouts for the carers.
